Roadrunners in fifth entering final round of UTSA Intercollegiate First and Second Round Results
SAN ANTONIO - Led by a one-under-par effort from freshman Nick Olivarri, the UTSA men’s golf team is tied for fifth place after day one of the UTSA Intercollegiate held Monday at Oak Hills Country Club (6,691 yards, par 71).
Olivarri carded a one-under 70-71=141 for a tie in sixth place, just three strokes off the pace of individual leader Danny Bowen of New Mexico State (69-69=138).
In the team standings, UTSA is tied with Arkansas-Little Rock at 10-over 578 after turning in rounds of 285 and 293. Baylor and Wichita State lead the team race at three-over 571, while New Mexico State (574) and Kansas (576) round out the top four.
Other Roadrunners in action included sophomore Kitt Thabungkan (T-12th, 144), junior John Elizondo (T-18th, 145), sophomore Matt Johnston (T-32nd, 148) and freshman Philipp Krohn (T-53rd, 152). Playing as an individual, freshman Shane Costelloe is tied for 12th place at 70-74=144.
The final round tees off at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Admission is free.
