SAN ANTONIO - UTSA fell from the list of undefeated teams when Pacific posted four singles victories in a 5-2 win over the Roadrunners in men's tennis action on Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners fell to 3-1 on the season as only Joe Michael Olfindo and Hetori Chaves posted wins. Olfindo won his No. 5 singles match by a 6-0, 6-3 count over Alan Kelly, while Chaves stopped Austin Kakar in the No. 6 match by a 6-2, 6-3 count. Pacific had scored singles wins at No. 1 as Arnar Sigurdsson defeated Dennis Andrade 6-1, 6-4; No. 2 as Jorgen Vestli defeated Anthony Portois, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6; No. 3 as Vladimir Zdravkovic defeated Ricardo Almeida, 6-4, 6-3; and at No. 4 as Nicolas Otte defeated Jonas Hoglund, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
UTSA lost the doubles point as Sigurdsson and Zdravkovic defeated Almeida and Andrade, 8-0 at No. 1, while Otte and Vestli scored an 8-6 win over Hoglund and Chaves at No. 2. UTSA won at No. 3 as Portois combined with Adam Becker for an 8-5 win over Kelly and Robert Price.
The Roadrunners will return to action this Saturday, Feb. 26 with a 1 p.m. home match with Texas Southern.
