Rosalind Holmes named SLC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week
PLANO, Texas - UTSA senior Rosalind Holmes (Kerens, Texas) has been named Southland Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Holmes posted UTSA’s first NCAA provisional-qualifying mark of the year in the 200-meter dash on Saturday at the Wes Kittley Six-Way in Lubbock, Texas. Holmes won her heat in 23.75, a personal best that was just .01 seconds behind Baylor’s Lakadron Ivery, who won the deuce in 23.74.
Holmes, who is ranked seventh nationally in the 200m this week in Trackwire’s Dandy Dozen, came back later in the afternoon to split 54.0 on UTSA’s 4x400m relay squad that finished third in 3:43.70, helping the Roadrunners place third in the standings with 91 points behind Texas Tech (166.67) and Baylor (131.33) and ahead of UTEP (59) and TCU (42).
The UTSA women will take this weekend off before traveling to Houston on Feb. 5 for the Hyatt Regency Invitational.
