Millsap Named Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week

PLANO, Texas - After helping UTSA to a 2-0 record, including a win over league-leading Northwestern State, John Millsap has been voted Southland Conference player of the week in men's basketball.

Millsap, a 6-6 senior forward from Grambling, La., led UTSA to the 2-0 week with wins over McNeese State, 80-75 on the road, and 86-78 at home over Northwestern State. Over the two games he averaged 23.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He scored a career-high 28 points at McNeese State that was also a UTSA season-high for an individual player. Millsap shot 20-for-31 (64.5 percent) from the field for the week and had three steals.

Millsap leads UTSA with a 14.6 points per game average this season.

With the two wins, the Roadrunners improved to 9-7 overall and 4-1 in conference play. UTSA is tied for second place with Southeastern Louisiana. The Roadrunners and Lions will meet this Saturday, Jan. 29 with a 4 p.m. tipoff in the UTSA Convocation Cenetr.
