2004 UTSA Baseball Fall World Series ends in 2-2 tie

Complete Recap

SAN ANTONIO - The final game of the 2004 UTSA Baseball Fall World Series was cancelled due to heavy rain in the San Antonio area. Following five weeks of unseasonable heat, the skies opened up during the Fall World Series and interrupted a passionate battle between the Mariachis “Blue Team” and Shockers “Orange Team.”

Game 1 proved to be a pitching duel between Mariachis starting pitcher Steven Vasquez (SO, RHP, Beeville, TX.) and Shockers starter, Aaron Rodriguez (SR, LHP, Richmond, TX.). Vasquez was the game’s Rising Star winner, throwing a complete game seven-inning shutout, giving up two hits and striking out five. Rodriguez matched Vasquez pitch for pitch, striking out 10 Mariachi hitters over seven innings. The game ended with a Mariachis victory, 1-0.

Todesco and pitcher Noah Tritz (JR, RHP, Klein, TX) helped put the Shockers back on the winning track. Tritz earned the win with four strikeouts in four scoreless innings of relief work.
