Daniel named SLC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

PLANO, Texas - UTSA sophomore Meagan Daniel (Hereford, Texas) has been named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Monday.

Daniel helped lead the Roadrunners to a 3-0 record for the week with 60 kills (5.45 kpg), 32 digs (2.90 dpg), 62.5 points (5.68 ppg) and a .341 hitting percentage. In a 3-0 sweep of Texas-Arlington on Nov. 9, she matched her career-high with 26 kills in hitting .345 and added 15 digs for her 18th double-double of the season. Daniel pushed her double-double total to 19 with 16 kills and 11 digs in a 3-1 win at Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 12. In 3-1 victory at Northwestern State on Nov. 13, Daniel hit .410 with 18 kills, six digs and one service ace.

Daniel also earned league offensive honors on Oct. 4 and joins fellow sophomore Erin McMillan (San Antonio, Texas/Churchill) as two-time honorees for UTSA this year.

For the season, Daniel leads UTSA with 426 kills (3.84 kpg) and 473.5 points. She also has posted 364 digs (3.28 dpg), 30 aces and a .228 hitting percentage in 111 games (31 matches).

Daniel and the Roadrunners (16-15, 12-8 SLC) enter this weekend’s SLC Postseason Tournament as the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 McNeese State on Friday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. in Beaumont.
