Olivarri in second after two rounds of Del Walker Intercollegiate

LONG BEACH, Calif. - UTSA freshman Nick Olivarri shot a three-under-par 139 and stands in second place after the first two rounds of the Del Walker Intercollegiate Tournament being played at the Virginia Country Club. The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Friday.

Olivarri, who came to UTSA from Converse Judson High School, shot a first round score of 65, and followed up with a 74 over the next 18 holes. He trails Dawie VanDerWalt of Lamar by one stroke going into Friday's final round of play.

As a team, the Roadrunners are in a tie for seventh with Cal-Santa Barbara with a two-round total of 586, 18-over par. Lamar leads the field with a 572, followed by Cal-Irvine at 573, Long Beach State, 581, Houston, San Jose State and Denver at 585. Rounding out the field behind UTSA are New Mexico State (588), Arizona (595), Cal-Northridge (597) and North Texas (605).

UTSA's Matt Johnston stands in 10th place with a one-over 143 after the first two rounds, John Elizondo is 43rd with a nine-over 151, Shane Costelloe is 50th with an 11-over 153, while Kitt Thabungkan is 59th with a 16-over 158.

The Del Walker Tournament is UTSA's final fall tournament.
