AUSTIN, Texas - UTSA seniors Dennis Andrade and Ricardo Almeida teamed up to advance to the doubles semifinals of Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Region VI Tournament played on Saturday at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
The duo combined to score an 8-4 victory over Alberto Agis and Kyle Mims of Texas-Arlington in the round of 32. The other UTSA doubles team of Nate Avila and Joe Olfindo was eliminated in the same round by Ben Harknett and Tony Hearle of Rice by a 8-2 count.
In other Roadrunner play, freshman Anthony Portois was eliminated in the round of 32 with a 6-3, 6-3 setback to Evghenii Corduneau of Louisiana-Lafayette. Andrade advanced in consolation singles play with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Josey Trimmier of Texas-Arlington.
Play will continue on Sunday in singles and doubles.
