Contact: Rick Nixon (210) 458-4551 Andrade advances to singles championship at UTSA/Sonterra Invitational SAN ANTONIO - Senior Dennis Andrade won two singles matches and advanced to Sunday's championship to highlight second day action at the UTSA/Sonterra Men's Tennis Invitational held at the UTSA Tennis Center and Sonterra Country Club.
Andrade advanced to the finals with wins over Andrei Radulescu of Texas (3-6, 6-4, 7-5) and Kendall Smashy of St. Edward's (7-6, 6-2). On Sunday he will play Marcus Lunt of Tyler Junior College in the singles final. Lunt advanced with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Anthony Portois of UTSA in the semifinals. Portois won his quarterfinal match over Tyler's Javier Herrera (7-6, 3-6, 7-6).
Play will continue on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. with the finals in doubles, followed at 10:30 a.m. with the singles championships.
