Andrade/Almeida eliminated at 2004 ITA All-American Tournament

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - UTSA seniors Dennis Andrade and Ricardo Almeida came up short in their bid for a doubles championship, losing on Wednesday in the round of 16 at the 2004 Icy Hot Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Tournament at the Champions Club.

After two match victories, Andrade and Almeida were eliminated by an 8-6 count at the hands of Danny Bryan and Colt Gaston from Louisiana State University.

"It was encouraging to see how Ricardo and Dennis reacted to the competition they faced at this tournament," said UTSA coach Dr. Oliver Trittenwein. "Hopefully this will be a momentum builder for them the rest of their senior season. They learned a lot this week playing against top-caliber competition."

Andrade and Almeida had advanced to the third round with an 8-3 victory over Sean Kelleher and Stephen Ward of William & Mary on Tuesday, after an 8-3 win on Monday over Markus Dickhardt and Dontia Hayes of San Diego State.
