UTSA women finish 13th, men 18th at Cowboy Jamboree

STILLWATER, Okla. - Running against the most competitive field they have faced this season, the UTSA women finished 13th overall, while the Roadrunner men came in 18th at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree Cross Country Invitational held on Saturday.

The women's team championship was won by Texas Tech with a team total of 50 points, with Georgetown second with 84, while Texas A&M was third with 106. With three runners in the top 61, UTSA finished with 322 points. Meghan Chance topped the Roadrunners with a 53rd place finish with a time of 19:23 over the 5,000-meter course. Other UTSA finishers included Rita Lambert at 59th, Katherine King in 61st, Ashley McDonald (73rd), Anne Marie Hollowell (76th), Karilyn Petty (81st) and Brianna Mendez (92nd).

Arkansas dominated the men's division with a team total of 47 to claim first place. Oklahoma State was second with 59, followed by Abilene Christian with 81. UTSA's men finished with 463 points, led by junior transfer Dustin Riedel, who came in 82nd with a personal best time of 27:00 over the 8,000m course. Riedel's time was better by more than a minute-and-a-half over his previous best. Freshman Michael Schwartz finished 85th, followed by freshman Jaziel Crisostomo (87th), freshman Nick Perez (93rd), sophomore Adrian Vargas (116th), freshman Eric Miller (117th) and junior transfer Justin Pitchford (121st).

The women's individual title was claimed by Miriam Kaumba of Oklahoma Baptist who covered the course in 17:02, while Josphat Boit of Arkansas won the men's division with a time of 23:52. The Razorbacks had five runners in the top 20.

UTSA will return to action on Oct. 18 at the Pre-Southland Conference Invitational hosted by Lamar University in Beaumont.
