King named SLC Women's Cross Country co-Athlete of the Week PLANO, Texas - UTSA senior Katherine King (San Antonio, Texas) has been named Southland Conference Women's Cross Country co-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Asbel Ngetich of Southeastern Louisiana earned the Southland Conference athlete of the week for men's cross country for the second time this season. CO-WOMEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK Katherine King, Texas-San Antonio, Sr., San Antonio, Texas King claimed the women's individual title at the Whataburger UTSA Cross Country Invitational with a time of 19:09 over the 5K course, leading UTSA to a second-place team finish. The Texas Longhorns ran away with the women's championship with 22 points, placing five runners in the top 10. UTSA was second with 54 points while Texas-Pan American was third with 79. Ruth Waller, McNeese State, Jr., Manchester, England Waller finished fourth at the LSU Invitational with a 22:20.67 clocking on the 6,000-meter course. Her fourth-place showing was among 93competitors. It is Waller's second SLC cross country athlete of the week award in as many weeks. MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Asbel Ngetich, Southeastern Louisiana, Sr., Kapsabet, Kenya Ngetich helped Southeastern Louisiana to a third-place finish at the LSU Invitational, finishing second overall among 86 runners with a time of 25:55.39 on the 8,000-meter course. It was his second consecutive top-three finish this season as he finished third overall at the Southern Miss Invitational on Sept. 10.
