PLANO, Texas - UTSA junior Ashley McDonald was named the Southland Conference (SLC) Women's Athlete of the Week for her performance on Sept. 18, it was announced Tuesday by the league office. It is the first SLC honor for the San Antonio native.
McDonald, an East Central High School product, led the UTSA women to a second-place finish at the Schlotzky's/Texas State Invitational on Saturday, by finishing fourth overall and third among the university division with a time of 18:48. She paced UTSA's two top-10 finishers in the event as the Runners finished with 53 points, behind winner Texas with 39.
The UTSA women and men hit the trail again on Sept. 17 at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station.
