SAN ANTONIO - UTSA freshman Larry Brooks (Stafford, Texas) finished sixth in the men's 800-meter run at the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships last weekend at Texas A&M's Frank G. Anderson Track and Field Complex.
Brooks, who entered the meet with the second-fastest time in the 800m field, a personal-best 1:49.69 posted at the Rice Twilight in April, won his preliminary heat on Friday with a 1:52.21 clocking. In Saturday's final, the Southland Conference champion placed sixth in 1:52.33.
The top two finishers - Timothy Harris (1:50.82) and Missouri's Marcus Mayes (1:51.24) - will represent Team USA at the 2004 IAAF World Junior Championships on July 13-18 in Grosseto, Italy.
