SAN ANTONIO - UTSA freshman Larry Brooks (Stafford, Texas) will compete in the men's 800-meter run at the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Friday-Saturday, June 25-26, at Texas A&M's Frank G. Anderson Track and Field Complex.
More than 700 of the country's finest athletes ages 19 and under will descend on College Station for the right to represent Team USA at the 2004 IAAF World Junior Championships July 13-18 in Grosseto, Italy.
Brooks enters the meet with the second-fastest time in the 800m field, a personal-best 1:49.69 posted at the Rice Twilight in April. The Southland Conference champion at this distance (1:51.29), Brooks advanced to the NCAA Midwest Regional on this same track in May, finishing 11th in the preliminary round with a 1:50.70 clocking.
