Mezei tabbed first team Academic All-District

SAN ANTONIO - UTSA senior Mike Mezei (Lethbridge, Alberta) has been named to the Academic All-District VI men's at-large first team as voted on by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

Mezei, a first team All-Southland Conference and SLC All-Academic team selection, ranked second on the team in stroke average (74.52) in his final campaign with the Roadrunners. He was one of three SLC athletes chosen to the first team along with fellow golfer Chris Stroud of Lamar and tennis player David Corrie of Texas-Arlington. He also was one of three golfers on the at-large first team.

Mezei, who earned All-District VII honors as a sophomore at Wyoming before transferring to UTSA, posted his top spring finish of third in leading the Roadrunners to the team title at the Rice Intercollegiate. Last fall, Mezei turned in a 70.47 scoring average and won the Air Force Falcon Invitational individual title, leading UTSA to their first of two team crowns in the fall season. Mezei recently capped his UTSA career with a 91st-place finish at the NCAA Central Regional.
