DES MOINES, Iowa - UTSA sophomore Ryanne Dupree won her second heptathlon of the outdoor season on Thursday at the Drake Relays.
Dupree scored 5,087 points, her second NCAA provisional qualifier of the year, to move from third place after the first four events to first en route to her second straight heptathlon title of the spring campaign. Dupree leaped to an 18-10 1/2 measure in the first event Thursday, the long jump, to take over first place. She never looked back from that point on, posting a javelin throw of 115-11 and an 800 meters time of 2:26.53 in holding off runner-up Kelly Faber of Louisville.
Dupree also won the Texas Relays heptathlon on April 1 with a personal-best 5,383 points, giving her two of the most prestigious collegiate multi-event titles in less than a month.
The Drake Relays continue Friday-Saturday at Drake Stadium.
