SAN ANTONIO - Several members of the UTSA men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Walnut, Calif., to compete in the 46th annual Mt. SAC Relays held Friday-Sunday, April 16-18, at Mt. San Antonio College's Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
The UTSA men will send a handful of athletes to the West Coast, including seniors Justin Youngblood, Carl Johnson and Nate Dilworth, junior Curtis Johnson, sophomore T.R. Sissel and freshman Larry Brooks.
The women will be represented by senior Leticia Cerna and will travel the rest of their squad to Waco, Texas, for the Michael Johnson Invitational held Friday-Saturday at Baylor's Hart-Patterson Track and Field Complex.
The Roadrunners are coming off a solid showing in which they turned in three NCAA regional-qualifying marks at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station on April 10. Carl Johnson peeled off a season-best and regional-qualifying 14.13 in the men's 110-meter hurdles as the top collegiate finisher and third overall. He was tabbed Southland Conference Men's Athlete of the Week for his efforts.
Cerna finished second in the women's 1,500m with a personal-best and regional-qualifying 4:28.95, while sophomore Ryanne Dupree posted UTSA's other regional mark, a season-best 19-10 1/4 leap in the women's long jump in finishing second among collegians.
