PLANO, Texas - UTSA senior Carl Johnson has been named Southland Conference Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Johnson, who hails from La Vernia, Texas, peeled off a season-best and NCAA regional-qualifying time of 14.13 to finish as the top collegiate competitor in the 110-meter hurdles at the A&M Invitational in College Station last Saturday. His 14.13 placed him third overall behind two post-collegians, Lewis Edmonson (13.84) and Greg Hines (14.04). That time ranks the three-time SLC Indoor 60m hurdles champion and 2002 SLC Outdoor 110m hurdles champion fifth in the Mid-West Region.
The Roadrunners return to action this Friday-Sunday, April 16-18, when they travel to Walnut, Calif., to compete in the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays.
