SAN ANTONIO - The defending Southland Conference regular season champion UTSA women's tennis team improved to 3-0 in league action witha 7-0 blanking of Stephen F. Austin on Friday. The match, originally scheduled for the UTSA Tennis Center, was moved indoors to the Thousand Oaks Country Club.
The Roadrunners won two of the three doubles matches to take the doubles point as sophomore Nadezda Rossikhina and junior Massiel Martinez combined to defeat Melissa Bass and Lauren Nowicki at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, and senior Kateryna Romanenko and freshman Ana Paula Soto downed Kama Scott and Megan Langston at No. 3, 8-4.
UTSA swept all six singles matches to complete the 7-0 win. Junior Paula Erausquin, Martinez and Romanenko all remained undefeated in SLC play with victories today.
The Roadrunners improve to 4-4 overall and host Texas-Arlington in a key conference matchup on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center. Admission is free.
