Erausquin tabbed Southland Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA junior Paula Erausquin has been named Southland Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Wednesday.

Paula Erausquin went undefeated at No. 1 singles, both in straight sets, and No. 1 doubles in UTSA’s two victories over Sam Houston State (7-0) and Texas State (5-2). Against the Bearkats, Erausquin downed Mounia Hassib, 6-3, 6-1, and combined with sophomore Barbara Mooney to beat Cristina Flores and Hassib in doubles, 8-6. In the win over the Bobcats on Tuesday, Erausquin handled Melanie Hall, 6-0, 6-1, and teamed with Mooney to better Leja Sirola and Tina Klemenc, 8-6. Erausquin improves to 5-3 in singles (2-0 in SLC) and the Erausquin/Mooney tandem moves to 6-2 overall (2-0 in SLC).

The Roadrunners return to the court this Friday, March 12, when they host Stephen F. Austin at 11 a.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center.
