CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The UTSA men’s tennis team won the doubles point, but Northern Illinois came back to win four singles matches to clinch the West Bracket final over the Roadrunners, 4-1, on Sunday at the HEB Collegiate Team Championship.
With the loss, UTSA falls to 5-7 on the season.
The Roadrunners grabbed the doubles point with victories on two of the three courts. Juniors Ricardo Almeida and Dennis Andrade won 8-3 at No. 1 and sophomore Joe Olfindo and freshman Todd Hoy won 8-1 at No. 3.
Northern Illinois came back in the singles to win four matches at Nos. 1, 2,4 and 5.
UTSA hits the road again next weekend when they travel to Hammond, La., to open Southland Conference action against Southeastern Louisiana on Friday, March 12.
