| Feb. 11, 2004 Almeida tabbed Southland Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week Almeida won two singles matches and was part of two victorious doubles tandems in the home opening double-header for the Roadrunners last Saturday. In the 7-0 blanking of St. Edward's, he defeated Mario Quintero, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2 singles and combined with freshman Robert Kirchner to down Quintero and Kenton Venhuizen at No. 2, 8-5. Almeida came back in the 6-1 afternoon win over Laredo JC - the No. 2-ranked NJCAA team last fall - to beat Jorge Anda, the No. 2 NJCAA singles player from last fall, in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. He joined forces with Kirchner again at No. 2 doubles to take care of Rafael Zurita and Anda, 8-4. UTSA is scheduled to host Midwestern State on Thursday, Feb. 12, weather permitting, and Saint Louis on Sunday, Feb. 15, at the UTSA Tennis Center.
