| Feb. 10, 2004 Gilkes won the College Women's 1,000-yard run in 2:34.81 at New York City's famous Madisn Square Garden. She finished comfortably ahead of Duke's Shannon Rowbury, who crossed in 2:36.60. Fellow UTSA senior Leticia Cerna grabbed third in 2:37.14. It was the first appearance for either Roadrunner at one of the top indoor track and field meets in the world. The UTSA women will return to the track next Friday-Saturday, Feb. 20-21, at the Southland Conference Championships held at Bill Yeoman Field House in Houston.
