Roadrunners turn in another solid effort at Red Raiders Classic Complete Results
LUBBOCK, Texas - The UTSA track and field teams turned in another solid effort in their third meet of the indoor season on Saturday at the Red Raiders Classic at the Texas Tech Athletic Training Center.
For the women, senior Letitia Gilkes (St. Michael, Barbados) finished fourth in the mile in 5:09.23 and posted a sixth-place finish, fifth among collegiate competitors, in the 400 meters in 57.68. She was the only Roadrunner competing on the women's side, however former UTSA standout Katie Poindexter won the women's 800m in 2:10.78.
On the men's side, sophomore T.R. Sissel (Junction, Texas) continued his strong indoor campaign with a sixth-place finish in the 400m with a season-best 48.39 clocking. He also finished 10th in the 55-meter hurdles in 7.83.
Junior Robert Stager (Converse, Texas) measured 50-10 in the shot put for sixth place, while sophomore Bryan Wolfe (Raymondville, Texas) skipped 43-9 for sixth in the open triple jump. Sophomore Brandon Buteaux (San Antonio, Texas) and senior All-American Justin Youngblood (Goliad, Texas) both cleared 6-5 1/2 to finish ninth and 10th, respectively, in the high jump. Freshman Adrian Vargas (Del Rio, Texas) added a 10th-place showing in the mile in 4:44.01.
UTSA returns to action next Saturday when it travels to Houston to compete in the Houston Invitational.
