UTSA finishes McNeese State in four

SAN ANTONIO - Behind a career-high .529 attack percentage (20-2-34) from freshman Meagan Daniel, the Roadrunners put away McNeese State 22-30, 30-24, 30-20, 30-18, Saturday afternoon in Southland Conference Volleyball action at the UTSA Convocation Center. 

After a slow start in game one which saw UTSA down by 10 for most of the game and fall behind in the match with a 30-22 loss, the Roadrunners stepped up to the challenge to win the next three games.

UTSA fell behind to the Cowgirls, 11-14 in game two before putting together a 6-0 run to take a 17-14 lead which they would not relinquish. McNeese would pull within one at 23-22, but powered by kills from freshmen Connie Picard and four straight from Daniel, the 'Runners were able to secure game two with a 30-24 score.

The Roadrunners would breeze through the next two games with a .268 clip to McNeese's .047 mark for a 30-20 win in the third, follwed by the final game in which UTSA built a 15-5 lead to go on to the 30-18 win.

UTSA (18-13, 13-7 SLC) is one of six teams that will advance to the Southland Conference Postseason Tournament to be played at the Convocation Center Nov. 21-23. The seeds of tournament are yet to be determined pending the outcome of tonight's match between Texas-Arlington and Sam Houston State.
