Almeida ends run in Texas Invite consolation semifinals

AUSTIN, Texas - Junior Ricardo Almeida (Brasilia, Brazil) withdrew from his semifinal match in the singles consolation bracket on Sunday to end his run at the Texas Invite held at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.

Almeida was scheduled to face Gonzalo Figueiredo of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday, who ended up winning 6-1, 7-5 in the final over Hubert Chodkiewicz of Texas.

Almeida won his first-round match Friday against Marvin Rolle of Texas A&M, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, before falling in the second round to Garrett Snyder of Texas, 6-3, 6-2. He came back Saturday to win consecutive consolation bracket battles over David Plasencia of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 6-4, 7-6, and Mario Quintero of St. Edward's, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, to reach the semis.
