Crew named to Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team

TUCSON, Arizona - UTSA shortstop Ryan Crew, the Southland Conference
Freshman of the Year, finished his rookie campaign leading the team in batting average (.313), RBI (34) and doubles (14) and now has been named to the 2003 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team as chosen by Collegiate Baseball newspaper released on Thursday, June 5.

The Stephen F. Austin High School product out of Surgarland, Texas, was among the team leaders in home runs with five, runs with 37 and triples with two. He totaled a team-high 17 multiple-hit games to go along with seven multi-RBI games and collected a Roadrunner-high 101 total bases. He put together an eight-game hitting streak during the season, and in 53 games was hitless in only 13.

The 2003 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team features a who's who of young baseball talent. The team is headed by Collegiate Baseball newspaper's Freshmen National Players of The Year in LHP Mark Romanczuk (Stanford), LHP Glen Perkins (Minnesota), Jeff Clement (Southern California), and multiple position athlete Stephen Head (Mississippi).
