Srp named to Verizon Academic All-American Team SAN ANTONIO - UTSA pitcher Mike Srp was named today to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-America second team making him the Roadrunners' only academic all-American this year.
The Boerne, Texas, native graduated this spring with a 3.97 grade point average as a construction management major with a finance minor. UTSA's two-time (2002-03) Male Academic Athlete of the Year, Srp was the Southland Conference's top male student-athlete in 2002 and 2003.
A three-year letterman, Srp is UTSA's all-time leader for complete game shutouts with four, is third in career wins with 19, and seventh in strikeouts with 131. Over the 2003 campaign, Srp was 6-7 with a 5.93 ERA with 27 walks and 42 strikeouts in 85.0 innings of work. He ends his career at UTSA with a 19-18 record and a 4.80 ERA to go along with 131 strikeouts to just 74 walks.
