LUBBOCK — Sophomore Grace Williamson's second victory in as many days highlighted UTSA's final day of action at the Texas Tech invitational.
Williamson crossed the finish line in 2:15.55 in winning the 800 meters and the time currently ranks second in the Southland Conference standings. The Houston native was victorious on Friday night in the 1,000 meters (3:01.64).
Meanwhile, sophomore April Benavidez was second in the pole vault with a season-best clearance of 11-5 ¾ (3.50m).
Three other sophomore distance runners raced to third-place finishes on Saturday.
Alyssa Diaz raced to a 5:17.13 in the mile, Samantha Fish recorded a 10:29.83 in the 3k and Nina Herrera clocked a personal-best 2:19.56 while finishing four seconds behind Williamson in the 800m.
The Roadrunners return to action next weekend at the Houston Invitational/Multis. The two-day meet begins on Friday, Jan. 27, at Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse.
