SAN ANTONIO — Led by senior Shannon Jungman's personal-best 69, UTSA shot a school-record 283 on Monday to jump into a tie for second place after two rounds of The Alamo Invitational.

The Roadrunners bettered the previous program mark established a year ago at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships by four strokes. In fact, UTSA improved by 10 shots following its opening-round 293 and the Birds are tied with No. 23 Baylor (293-283) with a two-day total of 576. The pair sits two strokes behind Nebraska, which set a tournament record with a 280 in the second round.

Jungman moved into a tie for fourth place on the individual leaderboard after shooting two-under-par. The Pflugerville native carded five birdies to help bring her two-day score to 142 (73-69).

Joining her in the top five is sophomore Fabiola Arriaga, who sits in third place with a 141 (69-72). Arriaga’s lone birdie came on No. 3 and a bogey on No. 15 brought her score to even-par for the day.

Senior Summer Batiste and junior Paola Valerio each fired rounds of 71 to give the Roadrunners four players that shot under par in over the second 18 holes of the tournament.

Batiste highlighted her round with an eagle on No. 7 and a birdie on No. 17 for a 36-hole score of 146 (75-71), which is good for 21st. Meanwhile, Valerio is tied for 26th with a 147 (76-71) after firing four birdies on Monday.

Sophomore Taylor Newlin shot a second-day 74 and she is tied for 38th place at 150 (76-74).

Baylor’s Hayley Davis (70-70=140) and Central Florida’s Monifa Sealy (69-71=140) are atop the individual leaderboard.

Tuesday’s final round is scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
