HAMMOND, La. — Carly Dagys scored the match’s only goal in the 75th minute and Southeastern Louisiana defeated UTSA in Sunday's regular season finale for both squads.
The Roadrunners (8-8-2, 5-3-1 SLC) managed just eight shots, which was one more than Southeastern Louisiana (11-6-1, 5-4 SLC).
However, Dagys’ header from Maiya Cooper and Jen Babcock found the back of the net to give the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead they did not relinquish.
The goal was just the sixth allowed by sophomore goalie Danielle Snyder this fall and only the second in Southland Conference play. She recorded a pair of saves but was saddled with her first loss of the season (6-1-2).
UTSA will enter this week’s Southland Tournament as the No. 4 seed and face fifth-seeded Southeastern Louisiana again at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, for the right to advance and play regular season champion Stephen F. Austin the following night.
The Roadrunners, seeded third a year ago, defeated Lamar, Stephen F. Austin and Southeastern Louisiana en route to their first-ever Southland Championship.
