HAMMOND, La. — Kenna Terry allowed just three hits and a pair of UTSA errors in the sixth led to three unearned runs, which helped Southeastern Louisiana top the Roadrunners, 4-1, on Friday night.
Senior Ashley Kappler went 2-for-3 and scored the Roadrunners' lone run.
Meanwhile, Michelle Duhe had three hits and an RBI to pace the Lady Lions (9-28, 2-9 SLC).
Southeastern Louisiana took a 1-0 lead in the second on Katie Matthews’ two-out double to right that plated Kayla Elswick from first base.
UTSA (16-21, 6-5 SLC) knotted the score in the fourth when Kappler started the inning with a single and moved to third on a throwing error by Trish Bliss. Freshman Megan Low then drove in Kappler with a sacrifice fly to right for her team-leading 24th RBI of the season.
However, the Lady Lions took the lead for good in the sixth thanks to a pair of errors and run-scoring hits from Bliss, Duhe and Katie Doyle.
Terry (3-12), who allowed an unearned run and struck out one, finished off the victory with a perfect seventh inning.
Reliever Alyssa Vordenbaum (3-8) gave up three unearned runs on three hits in 3.1 frames.
The series concludes at noon on Saturday.
