WACO — UTSA saw its season come to an end with an eighth-place finish at Saturday's NCAA South Central Regional in Waco.

Leading the way once again was sophomore Nina Herrera, who covered the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course 6,000-meter trail in 21:59.2. That was good for 33rd place in the field of 149 runners and it marked the eighth meet in a row that the El Paso native was the Roadrunners' top finisher.

Fellow sophs Samantah Fish (22:22.7) and Alyssa Diaz (22:35.5) placed 42nd and 54th, respectively, while Southland Conference Freshman of the Year Carly Kitts was 62nd in 22:47. Redshirt sophomore Jessica Bitterly (84th/23:22.1) rounded out UTSA's scorers.

The Roadrunners finished with 275 points and were just three behind seventh-place Lamar. Arkansas won the team title with 49 points, while Texas earned the meet's other automatic berth to the NCAA Championships with its second-place effort. Meanwhile, SMU's Silje Fjortoft won the individual crown in 19:59.1.
