SAN ANTONIO — Houston scored in all five innings and hit three home runs en route to a 10-0 run-rule victory at UTSA on Tuesday evening.
Sophomore Molly Fichtner went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Roadrunners (21-26), who lost for the fourth time in their last five outings.
Meanwhile, Haley Outon went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs to pace the Cougars (30-21).
Houston opened the contest with three runs in the first off UTSA starter Haylee Staton (13-7) and never looked back.
The Cougars went on to score single runs in both the second and third before plating a pair in the fourth on RBI hits from Outon and Kelly Lindley. A three-run fifth, highlighted by back-to-back homers by Sydney Gerbracht and Outon, capped the scoring.
Bailey Watts (12-8) struck out four in the two-hit shutout.
UTSA will close out its regular season this weekend at Stephen F. Austin (16-30, 6-12 SLC). First pitch of Friday’s series opener is slated for 4:30 p.m.
