HOUSTON — UTSA stranded 10 base runners, including six in scoring position, and Houston Baptist took advatage by snapping an eight-game losing streak to the Roadrunners in a 3-2 victory on Wednesday at Husky Field.

Senior Caitlyn Ivy went 2-for-4 with an RBI, but the Roadrunners fell to 13-19 on the season.

Meanwhile, Rebecca Rademacher finished 2-for-3 and Kendall Stiefel pitched four no-hit relief innings for the Huskies, who improved to 12-20 this spring.

UTSA pushed a run across the plate in the opening inning for the third consecutive contest.

Senior Ashley Kappler started the game with an infield single and she moved to second following a walk to freshman Megan Low. Ivy then stepped to the plate and picked up her 19th RBI of the campaign with a single up the middle. A ground out put runners on second and third with two outs, but UTSA was unable to score again in the frame.

Houston Baptist tied the game two stanzas later with back-to-back hits, including Daniella Rodarte's run-scoring triple to right.

However, the Roadrunners jumped on top without a hit in the fourth thanks to a pair of walks, an illegal pitch and a sacrifice fly by freshman Geena Garcia.

It proved to be the Roadrunners’ final advantage of the day, as the Huskies scratched across a run in similar fashion in the bottom of the panel following a pair of hit batters and two bunts.

Michaela Granchelli‘s RBI-single an inning later put Houston Baptist ahead for the first time.

Stiefel (5-7) retired the side in order in the seventh to polish off the come-from-behind victory. She did not allow a hit and struck out two in her four innings.

Senior Morgan Luksa (3-6) was saddled with the loss with a run on two hits in 2.2 frames.

UTSA returns home for four games this weekend, starting with a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Sam Houston State (14-15, 6-2 SLC) on Friday. The Roadrunners, who are 3-3 in Southland Conference play, will close the weekend the next afternoon with a 1 p.m. twinbill with Central Arkansas (26-13, 5-3 SLC).
