HOUSTON — Junior Katie Bragg and sophomore Krystal Wynn each recorded second-place finishes on Saturday to lead the UTSA women's track & field team at this weekend's Houston Invitational/Multis.

Bragg continued her strong start to the 2012 campaign with a season-best measurement of 55-10 ½ (17.03m) in the weight throw. The Peachtree City, Ga., native finished a half-foot behind Houston's Emily Nnokwam but was able to extend her Southland Conference lead by nearly five inches. She was just four inches shy of the program record she established during her freshman year.

Meanwhile, Wynn broke the sand in 18-1 ½ (5.52m) en route to runner-up honors in her first long jump outing of the season. Prairie View A&M's Kia Allen outdistanced Wynn by six-and-a-quarter inches for the gold medal in Friday's B flight.

The Roadrunners' other top performance of the weekend came from sophomore Nina Herrera, who raced to fourth-place honors in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:59.54. That mark ranks third on the league leaderboard.

UTSA returns to action next weekend at the prestigious New Balance Invitational in New York City. The two-day event gets underway on Friday, Feb. 3, at the historic 168th Street Armory in upper Manhattan.
