BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — UTSA concluded its weekend road trip to Alabama with a 5-2 loss to UAB on Sunday at the Samford Tennis Center.
The Blazers (3-4) opened a 1-0 lead after claiming two of the three contests in doubles play.
The Roadrunners (5-3) took both Nos. 1 and 6 singles, but UAB rallied to win the final four matchups, including two that went the distance.
Senior Stefanie Peana earned a straight-sets victory with a 6-4, 6-3 decision against Isabel Fernandez at the top spot.
Meanwhile, freshman Irene Gandara Gonzalez won at sixth singles after leading 5-2 in the first set before Rachel Cohen retired.
UTSA will return to action with its Southland Conference opener at Central Arkansas on Saturday, March 3.
