BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — UTSA used an all-around performance to defeat Jacksonville State, 6-1, on Friday at the Samford Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (5-1) swept the doubles session and claimed five of the six singles tilts to knock off the Gamecocks (3-4).
Sophomore Isabelle Jonsson continued her impressive start to the spring by posting a 6-4, 7-5 win against Raphaela Lima at the No. 2 singles position.
Senior Stefanie Peana battled past Raisa Guasti, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5, at the top spot and senior Micaela Silva gained a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Rafaela Wenzel at the third position.
Meanwhile, juniors Kavya Menon and Natalie Hand each netted straight-sets wins to round out UTSA's scoring.
Jacksonville State picked up its lone point when Aleksandra Cmilijic topped freshman Irene Gandara Gonzalez in straight sets at the No. 6 spot.
UTSA will continue its weekend road trip at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Samford.
