SAN ANTONIO — TheUTSA football program’s inaugural season is featured on the cover of the new AT&T Real Yellow Pages directories serving the greater San Antonio area. The cover photograph is from UTSA’s season opener, a 31-3 victory against Northeastern State at the Alamodome.
More than 1.3 million copies of the directory have been produced for distribution in the area this year. Directory delivery is underway and continues for about five weeks. The directory also will be available to new residents and businesses throughout the year.
“This has been a very special season for the UTSA Roadrunners that was years in the making,” AT&T Advertising Solutions area marketing manager Roland Rodriguez, said. “Featuring San Antonio’s first Division I football program on the cover of the new AT&T Real Yellow Pages is a great way to commemorate something extremely special for our city and the thousands of football fans in the area. AT&T has also refreshed its cover design for this edition, so the combination of a new look on the directory and a new team in the city makes perfect sense.”
Rodriguez also said AT&T always looks to feature a local image on the front covers of its directories to emphasize the AT&T Real Yellow Pages is a valuable community resource and excellent local search option for both residents and businesses.
UTSA has accepted an invitation for membership within the Western Athletic Conference in the football bowl subdivision and it will be an official member on July 1, 2012.
"To have a picture of our first game in just about every San Antonio home and business for the next year is a tremendous honor," UTSA Athletics Director Lynn Hickey said. "The response from the San Antonio community for our inaugural season has been tremendous and it's obvious San Antonio is a great football city and has been longing for college football at the highest level."
Head coach Larry Coker said he is very proud of the team and the athletics program and he appreciates the support the city has given to the Roadrunners this season.
"I've coached a National Championship team at Miami and have been on coaching staffs at several other large universities, but that first game in the Alamodome may have been the most electric of my career," Coker said. "This photo captures the excitement of both our team and the nearly 57,000 people in attendance. I could not have dreamed of a better start to UTSA football.”
As new books are delivered, San Antonio-area businesses and residents are urged to recycle their outdated directories through Project ReDirectory. Schools across Bexar County will vie for cash prizes in an effort to collect and recycle the most books.
Individuals also can recycle their old directories at many area H-E-B stores. Participating stores will have containers in the parking lots labeled for phone book recycling. AT&T’s community partners in this recycling effort include H-E-B, Keep San Antonio Beautiful and Texas Disposal Systems. Collection will continue through Nov. 20.
AT&T Real Yellow Pages directories are recyclable and the paper used to print the directories contains recycled materials. Residents and businesses can call the AT&T Real Yellow Pages Project ReDirectory help line, listed on the directory cover, at 800-953-4400 for directory recycling information in this community.
