SAN ANTONIO — UT Arlington scored in each of the first four innings, including four times in the fourth, and cruised to a 10-6 victory at UTSA on Sunday afternoon at Roadrunner Field.

After the Mavericks (23-14, 10-8) opened the contest with a pair of runs, the Roadrunners (15-21, 6-12 SLC) answered with three of their own to take a 3-2 lead.

However, UT Arlington scored once in the second, once more in the third and four in the fourth to put the game out of reach.

The Birds managed single tallies in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings, but the Mavericks added solo runs in the seventh and eighth to stave off UTSA.

Chad Nack (2-3) gave up two runs on a pair of hits and struck out three in three relief innings.

UT Arlington pounded out 13 hits, including three by Jordan Vaughn, who also drove in three baserunners.

Freshman Justin Anderson (2-2) surrendered eight runs on eight hits and fanned two in 3.1 innings of work.

Meanwhile, junior Ryan Dalton was 3-for-5 and sophomore RJ Perucki stroked two hits.

UTSA returns to action on Tuesday, April 17, when it hosts Houston Baptist (13-19). First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Bird Bath.
