NEW ORLEANS, La. — Rodrigo Rappaccioli's come-from-behind, three-set victory helped lift Tulane to a 4-3 win against UTSA on Sunday at the Goldring Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (0-4) and Green Wave (3-3) were tied at three with only the No. 5 singles contest left unfinished.
After losing the first frame, senior Daniel Moser tied the contest after prevailing in the second set, 7-6 (7-5). The Texarkana native then took a 5-2 lead in the third panel, but Rappaccioli rallied late to clinch the match with a 7-6 (7-2) triumph.
The Green Wave took an early 1-0 advantage after winning two of the three doubles matches.
Tulane then picked up straight-set victories in the first two singles tilts (Nos. 2 & 4) to take what appeared to be a commanding 3-0 lead.
UTSA then began its rally.
The Birds picked up their first point when sophomore Yannick Junger swept Shaye Wali in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). Junior Tyler Brown and freshman David Kelleher followed Junger with wins at Nos. 3 and 6.
UTSA will wrap up its season-opening five-match road trip at Rice (5-3) on Saturday, Feb. 11.
