SAN ANTONIO — Trinity took the doubles point, but UTSA rebounded with a singles sweep to claim a 6-1 victory in Wednesday's home opener.

The Tigers (2-2) won two of the three doubles tilts to take an early 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Kolby Kilgo and freshman Joel Rubio earned the Roadrunners' lone doubles triumph with an 8-4 victory at the No. 3 position.

Following the break, UTSA (2-4) quickly pulled back even after senior Martin Ayala's 6-0, 6-2 win against Greg Haugen at No. 3 singles.

Rubio then gave the Roadrunners the lead for good after disposing of Jacob Straus 6-1, 6-2 at the fourth position.

Junior Tyler Brown pushed the Birds' advantage to 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at the No. 2 slot and sophomore Yannick Junger clinched the match victory after downing Max Frey in straight sets at the top spot.

Senior Daniel Moser and freshman David Kelleher completed the singles sweep with straight-set wins and the Nos. 5 and 6 positions, respectively.

UTSA will return to the road when it opens Southland Conference play at Nicholls on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
