HOUSTON — UTSA's distance runners recorded 10 personal bests on Friday evening at the Victor Lopez Classic.

Senior Albert Cardenas led the way with a third-place finish in the 5k. The Converse native clocked a personal-record time of 14:46.22, which was an eight-and-a-half-second improvement on the mark he recorded at last year's meet. He only finished behind the Lamar duo of Tom Wade (14:29.56) and Matt Johnsen (14:29.88), which gives him the third-best time in the Southland Conference this season.

The Roadrunners will return to action at a pair of meets next week. A majority of the team will compete at the Trinity Tigers Relays on Friday, March 30, while the remainder of the squad will head to Austin for the 85th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
