NACOGDOCHES — No. 46 Stephen F. Austin ended UTSA's season on Thursday afternoon at the Southland Conference Tournament with a 4-0 quarterfinals shutout at the Schlief Tennis Complex.
The regular season champion Ladyjacks (21-4) made quick work of the Roadrunners (9-13) to set a new program record for victories while advancing to Friday's semifinals.
SFA cruised to a pair of 8-2 wins Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to grab an early 1-0 advantage.
The Ladyjacks carried the momentum into singles action where they picked up victories at the Nos. 2, 3 and 6 spots to clich the match.
Alina Shazhko handed sophomore Isabelle Jonsson a 6-1, 6-2 setback at the second position, while Tereza Bekerova defeated senior Micaela Silva by scores of 7-5 and 6-2 at the No. 3 slot to extend the lead to 3-0. Julia Lorca gave Stephen F. Austin the game-winning point after she got past junior Natalie Hand in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) at the sixth spot.
