FRISCO — Junior Tyler Brown was selected as the Southland Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The New Braunfels native helped the then-No. 67 Roadrunners to a pair of victories last week against Texas-Pan American and then-45th-ranked Portland.
Brown tallied a total of four wins in doubles and singles competition.
In last Friday's Southland home-opening sweep of the Broncs, he teamed up with junior Martin Ayala for an 8-1 win at the No. 2 doubles spot. Later in the match, he swept Ricardo Hopker, 6-3, 6-4, at the second singles position.
Two days later, Brown and Ayala posted an 8-6 triumph in doubles action against the Pilots. He then netted a straight-sets victory against Alex Ferrero at the second singles spot to clinch the 6-1 win.
Brown leads the Roadrunners with a 7-4 record in singles play, while he and Ayala have collected a team-best seven victories in doubles competition this spring.
