FRISCO — Freshman Justin Anderson was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

The 6-foot-3 right-hander limited McNeese State to just one hit and faced just one batter over the minimum in Saturday's 3-0 victory in Lake Charles, La. Anderson, who was perfect through five innings, threw only 89 pitches (63 strikes) and struck out five in the first shutout of his yound career.

Jeff Hutzler tossed the only other individual one-hitter in program history on April 17, 1994, at Nicholls, but Robert Moreno, Larry Mason and Ryan McGinnis combined to limit Prairie View A&M to one hit in a 17-0 run-rule victory on March 1, 2000.

Anderson became the first Roadrunner to be named Southland Pitcher of the Week since Matt Crocker earned the award on April 27, 2009.

UTSA (13-19) returns to action on Tuesday evening at Texas-Pan American (16-6). First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Edinburg Stadium.
