WICHITA, Kan. — UTSA fell one point shy of its first win of the 2012 campaign on Saturday, as Air Force edged the Roadrunners, 4-3, at Genesis Health Club.
UTSA (0-3) captured the doubles point for the second consecutive match, but the Falcons (3-0) rallied to take four of the six singles tilts to hand the Roadrunners their third consecutive loss to open the spring campaign.
Following the doubles session, sophomore Yannick Junger sprinted to a straight-sets victory at the No. 2 singles spot and that was followed shortly by a two-set win by junior Tyler Brown at the third spot.
However, Air Force rallied with victories at the Nos. 1, 4 and 5 positions to tie the match at three.
Freshman David Kelleher fell short in his UTSA debut, as Alex Lineberry clinched the match for the Falcons with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph.
UTSA returns to action next Saturday, Feb. 4, at Louisiana-Lafayette.
