Meier inks with UTSA softball

She represents the tenth member of the 2024 signing class

SAN ANTONIO — On Tuesday, UTSA softball coach Vann Stuedeman officially announced the signing of Taylor Meier, who will join the team for the 2025 season following two seasons at McLennan Community College.

Meier was exceptional at McLennan, earning NJCAA Division I All-American honors following a season that saw her lead the Highlanders to a record-setting 61-4 season and a runner-up finish at the 2024 World Series. Meier was named both Offensive and Defensive Player of the Tournament after hitting .471 on the week with eight hits and a perfect fielding percentage. 

Throughout the season, she hit .497, with 38 RBIs, 49 stolen bases, and 58 runs, which pushed her to All-Region and All-NTJCAC honors. Meier broke numerous records in the process, including the Highlanders single-season stolen base record, and 73 career bags swiped are the most in the school's history. Additionally, she was an NJCAA West-Region First Team selection and was named to the conference's second team as a freshman. 

Prior to her junior college tenure, she was a standout performer at Brazoswood HS, boasting a .523 AVG with 29 stolen bases as a senior for coach Laura Oltman. Meier was a two-time All-District selection, first-team All-Southern Brazoria County as a junior, and first-team All-Brazoria Country as a senior. She also performed well in the classroom, posting a 3.40 GPA while competing for the Buccaneers. 

Meier is the daughter of Chris and Amy Meier and has one sister, Alissa. At UTSA, she plans to finish her education before beginning cosmetology school. 

Harrell becomes the tenth member of the singing class, joining Jett Harrell, Katia Reyes, Madison HornbackAva EldridgeReagan StoudtSabrina WickSkylar RuckerAngelica Ortiz, and Kaylie Olivarez.

“Taylor's speed will be a huge addition to our team and the offensive vision of this coaching staff. She has 'clutch-ability,' making game saving catches in the outfield as well as getting on base when needed. We are thrilled that she is a Roadrunner!”
