SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA volleyball team will wrap up the 2023 American Athletic Conference campaign on Wednesday with a noon Military Appreciation match against East Carolina inside the Convocation Center. As a part of the event, fans may take advantage of a special ticketing package that includes admission to the game as well as a limited edition Salute to the Troops camo T-shirt by clicking here.

Other promotions include the In-Law Special, which provides general admission starting at $6 over the holidays by clicking here, and the Pre-Thanksgiving Special, where fans will get one kid ticket free here with the purchase of an adult ticket.

The Roadrunners (15-14, 8-10 AAC) will be looking to snap a three-game skid after falling to UAB in four sets last time out. The loss came despite a handful of solid performances, notably that of junior Mekaila Aupiu, who led the contest with 32 assists.

Sophomore Mia Soerensen paced the squad in kills with 10 terminations, and classmate Caroline Krueger posted three service aces. Additionally, seniors Alicia Coppedge and Aliah Giroux put in a solid shift defensively, with Coppedge working three blocks and Giroux 16 digs.

The Pirates (19-10, 10-8 AAC) split last week, first using a sweep over Charlotte to halt a five-game losing streak, before falling to the 49ers in five sets on their Senior Day.

ECU has been one of the league’s top defending teams, holding their opponents to a .162 hitting percentage for the second-lowest mark in the AAC. They also rank second in blocks per set, averaging 2.45, a figure that sits just behind the Roadrunners for the top spot in the league.

Individually, Julianna Askew ranks third in the conference with 41 service aces on the season, and Carlia Northcross is second with 1.17 blocks per set.

Angeles Alderete provides the bulk of the offense with 339 kills for an average of 3.14 per set, and the Pirates operate out of a 6-2 with Askew totaling 535 assists and Peyton Evenstad 513. Lara Uyar and Alderete have each recorded over 300 digs, as Uyar tops the team with 346, and Alderete has posted 330.
